Reader Testimonials

I am sure you have received
numerous congratulations and heartfelt praise from your
fans. . . Here comes another one!
I have to tell you about the most blissful recent
afternoon I spent reading your book.
Fifteen-month old Jade fell asleep sprawled across my
lap on the living room couch (a rare event these days -
she seems to think she can go full speed most days with
no nap at all!). Instead of settling her down elsewhere,
so I could run around and "get things done," I relaxed
into the moment and stretched across the couch to reach
your book - where it had settled days earlier, in hopes
of a moment like this. (I will have to confess, I had
devoured a page or two the night before. My sister asked
the next day if I had started it and how it was so far.
I said I was crying already. She said, Oh, how far have
you gotten? "The acknowledgements." I confessed. They
are so heartfelt, I cried!). Anyway, I LOVED your book!
And I loved looking down at my sleeping Jade while I
read (they really are angelic when they sleep!), as I
giggled to myself and the tears rolled down my cheeks. I
can fully indentify with some of your silent thoughts
expressed in the book and I truly respect and admire all
of your work and especially the message and conversation
you are creating through this book. Your open,
emotionally available, wonderfully written account of
your life as a new mother is one of the best and most
touching books I have ever read. I am passing along,
buying more copies, and recommending your book to all of
my friends (mamas or not)!
Congratulations and good luck!
Warmly,
Claire (previous student of mine)

Just wanted to let you know that my
copies of your book arrived yesterday. I devoured my
copy, finishing it in less than 24 hours (haven't done
that since B.K.). Thanks for writing a book that
touched me and do the same for many women by presenting
an honest, beautiful look at Mommyhood.
Smiles,
Katie

Kimmelin has written the best book
about being a mother that I have read, and I've read
more than a few! Her story is comforting because all
mothers have felt some of the things that Ms Hull writes
about, but we weren't brave enough to talk about it. She
has a terrific writing style and is vulnerable and
honest and funny all at the same time. This book will
stick with me for a long time. I'm giving to every
mother I know for Mother's Day and I would recommend it
to ANYONE who is a mother or who knows a mother.

I read your whole book one day by the pool and I really
enjoyed it. It made me laugh, but more importantly, it
made me feel that is really is ok to make mistakes and
have challenges and frustrations as a mom. Your honesty
helped me see that whether you spend 18 hours or 4 hours
with your kids a day, you never feel like it is enough
or that you can’t do better, even when you are
completely overwhelmed! Thanks to
her for sharing!

Kimmelin's book is a must read for all new mothers and
mothers of any age! I love her writing style - it was a
very easy read and I did not want to put the book down.
She tells her story in a very thoughtful manner that
many women can relate to. I love her honesty and sense
of humor! I will be purchasing this book for every new
mom I know in the future. Thanks for sharing your
story!!

Wow! What a wonderful read. Kimmelin's lyrical writing
style is captivating. I could not put her book down.
From the first sentence to the last, I felt a connection
like none other. "The Red Tent" has been my favorite
book for many of years, one which I go back and
frequently read. After reading Kimmelin Hulls' "A Dozen
Invisible Pieces and Other Confessions of Motherhood" it
has replaced "The Red Tent" and is my most favorite book
ever! I believe everyone, man or women, should read this
book. It is Brilliant! Bravo! Can not wait to read more
from this talented and Lyrical author.

What a wonderful book. I just finished it and it was a
page turner. So proud of your work, your honesty it was
such a well written book. Believe me I totally
understand and can relate to a lot of your experience.
It was a little different for me in that our numbers
were not the same. I also agree with you about
following you own instincts and trusting your own
feelings when evaluating what happens with doctors in
the medical field.

Good morning Kimmelin....finished your book last
evening...reading your lines on almost every page I
could compare your mothering experiences with my
recollections of being the father of two small
girls....and I recalled, though many years have passed,
that many of the parental experiences were similar. You
have given us a gift, but more importantly, when you are
my age and memories begin to fade, you will have a
priceless treasure to savor over and over; not to
mention the primer that you have given Ellie, Landon,
and Gabriel on parenting.
